Don’t Forget to Wear Your Green

don't forget to wear your green shamrocks

St. Patrick’s Day is this weekend! I know I am not alone in getting excited about this holiday. What began as a Catholic feast day has evolved into a global celebration with festivals, parades, drinking and a whole lot of green! Even if you are not Irish, don’t forget to wear your green! Since I am a history nerd, I will give you a little background on why you should wear green. Legend has it that wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns. If leprechauns can see you, then you are at risk of being pinched. Thus, people began pinching each other as a reminder that leprechauns could sneak up and pinch anyone they could see. So I say it again, don’t forget to wear your green!

Aside from wearing green, there are so many other ways to celebrate! Has anyone been to Savannah, GA for St. Patrick’s Day? If you haven’t then you can’t appreciate how difficult it is to navigate the cobblestone streets after too much Guinness. I am definitely guilty here. I liken St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah to Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street, but with more green everywhere. Sadly, I haven’t been to Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day since my college years, but I do have fond memories. I don’t anticipate going anytime soon as I doubt my baby will really fit in with this scene. This year I have a one year old’s birthday party to attend so the celebrating will be toned down from prior years.

Whatever way you decide to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, don’t forget to wear your green! I have linked some items below in case you need help finding green items for the weekend (click the arrow to the right for more options).

The last few years my husband and I have taken our annual ski trip over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. We normally end up in Breckenridge where there happens to be the best little Irish pub. As it turns out, Guinness and Irish car bombs are the perfect accompaniment to a day of skiing. I clearly have missed the religious aspect of this feast day and focus on the libations. I also have been known to beat my husband in Irish car bomb races. Here is a video of us racing each other on St. Patrick’s Day a few years ago. Enjoy!

Bottoms up! I hope everyone has a safe and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I have rarely celebrated St Patrick’s day, but you are making me rethink this. I had no idea leprechaun pinching is what prompted people to wear green— I learned something today! Also, how perfect is that green scarf with your Gaia bag???

The green scarf tied around that purse is super cute! It’s a fun way to get your green in if you don’t feel like physically wearing green! Happy St. Paddy’s girl!! xx Shannon || http://www.champagneatshannons,com

Aww thank you so much!! That’s what I was thinking! I find that I only have a few green items in my closet so the scarf gets pulled out every year regardless lol. xo
