Happy New Year and a Fun Winter Questionnaire

Happy New Year! Welcome 2018! I hope everyone had a fabulous New Year filled with friends, family and lots of bubbly! My New Year started with three parties where I ate everything I could see. It was glorious. My pants didn’t exactly fit come January 2, but there could be worse things to deal with. My sweet friend Jennifer from Sincerely Mrs, JMM tagged me in a winter questionnaire. A few questions are related to the holidays, but most of them apply to the winter season so I am including them for my New Years post!

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Growing up we always did presents on Christmas Eve. My siblings and I would get our Christmas pajamas on and gather in my parent’s bedroom. We would pretend to go to sleep with my Mom in there, while my Dad stayed outside and ‘waited for Santa’. In reality, Dad would get up on the roof and walk around so it sounded as much like reindeer hooves as any kid could imagine. Then my Dad would jingle bells throughout the house so we would think Santa was inside. Dad would pop his head in the bedroom and announce that Santa still there unloading gifts. Then my Dad would get back up on the roof and walk around and we would assume the reindeer were taking back off and Santa had left. We would then run out of the bedroom with such excitement! Our Christmas gifts were arranged under the tree in our separate piles and we would tear into them. It was so magical and such a great memory from my childhood. Looking back, I can’t believe my Dad got up on the roof twice each Christmas. It was so sweet and I will never forget how excited I was thinking Santa and his reindeer had arrived!

What is your favorite go-to winter lip product?

Hands down this is my Burt’s Bees Lip Balm (the original). I cannot survive without this on my lips during the winter. I wear it all year long, but I definitely need it in the winter when it’s cold and dry outside.

What is your favorite winter scent?

I love the smell of chocolate chip cookies, fudge and butter cake (so basically all sweets). I bake a lot during the holidays so it’s total gluttony in my house. Aside from food scents, I love the smell of coffee. I recently bought a Coffee Cake candle from Williams Sonoma that is absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend this candle to anyone who even remotely likes the smell of coffee.

What is your go-to winter fashion trend?

Outfit Details:

J Crew Sweater (old, similar here and here), AG Jeans, BP Scarf (old, similar here), Sam Edelman Booties and Chloe Bag.

I love wearing scarves! The weather in Florida doesn’t always get cold enough to need a scarf, but when it does, I am all too eager to add one to my outfit. I also love wearing boots! I wish I could wear boots all year long, but it’s way too hot in Florida to do that. Here are two of my favorite pairs of boots – Hunter Rain Boots and Stuart Weitzman OTK.

What is your favorite all time Holiday tune?

This would have to be ‘The Little Drummer Boy.’ I remember being little and my grandpa played this song for me on an old record he had. I fell in love with that song and hearing it always reminds me of him.

Do you prefer to travel or stay home for the holidays?

Definitely stay home. I love having my Christmas tree all set up and cooking in my own kitchen. It’s so cozy!

What is your favorite skin care must have?

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. This is the best! It moisturizes but doesn’t make my skin feel greasy.

What is your favorite winter hair care product?

I don’t actually have anything different that I use for my hair in the winter since the seasons in Florida aren’t that drastic. I do straighten it much more often in the winter though so I would probably say I use Caviar CC Cream 10 in 1 Complete Correction the most in the winter season.

What is your favorite winter activity?

This would be my winter cleaning project. I love re-organizing for the new year by working my way through the house, one drawer at a time.  It’s great to start on a clean slate for the new year. This includes my closet, which I have yet to purge.

Do you love or dislike the snow?

Growing up in Florida, I didn’t see snow until I finished grad school and moved away from home so I love it as it’s still a novelty to me. I have never had to shovel it or scrape my windshield at 6am to go to work so I have rose colored glasses on when it comes to the topic of snow.

What is the one item on your wish list this year?

Since Christmas is now over, my one wish list item was Hunter boots which my Mom did buy for me! I love them and have worn them almost every day since Christmas. The next item on my wish list will be a new bag – I am not sure if I want a new tote or a fun cross-body. Any suggestions?

What is your favorite holiday treat?

I love cookies and fudge!

Do you finish shopping before December or are you a last minute shopper?

I usually have a few items to get last minute, but this year I managed to finish everything on Cyber Monday. It was the best feeling!

I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about me! Happy New Year friends!
