Spring Trends I Love – Polka Dots

As March is almost over, I am on my second to last post covering my favorite spring trends (see previous posts here and here). Today I am so excited to showcase polka dots! My husband is probably reading this and wondering how anyone could be excited over polka dots. I am not alone as so many designers had fabulous pieces featuring polka dots on the runway! To quote Vogue, dots take us back to 50s elegance, to the curvy pin-ups and unforgettable style icons like Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe. I completely agree with this statement. Nothing excites me more than the thought of returning to a time of elegance, which is mostly why I am in love with the polka dot trend.

The polka dot look is so classic. I am looking forward to flooding my wardrobe with different variations of the dot for spring and summer. After combing through tons of pictures from New York Fashion Week, I saw some designers add color to their polka dots. The basic white and black pattern seemed to be the most popular though and also my favorite. I borrowed a few images from Vogue to show some pieces from Spring Summer 2018. The images are from the following designers, respectively: Carolina Herrera, Dior and Blumarine:

While these looks are amazing, I don’t know anyone who has the occasion to wear any of these outfits. Lucky for you, I found the perfect dress that is both reasonable and can be worn by us everyday fashionistas. I absolutely love this dress. It is comfortable and fits very true to size. My only issue is the length, but my husband appreciates that part. If you are over 5’9″ I think it will be too short (for reference I am 5’9″ and it’s borderline in length). I paired the dress with sandals, but you could wear mules (here) or some espadrilles (here and here). I really think it is versatile and perfect for spring.

Since I am awesome, I also found a few other polka dot options for you!

There is never a wrong time for a polka dot (Marc Jacobs). What is your favorite polka dot look?

The polka dot trend is easy but, I don’t know, it scares me also lol I’m a plus size girl so I feel like it would just make me seem bigger. I have two polka dot t-shirts already though so lol
